CTF Orientation

CTF Orientation

From July 4 - 9th, 53 teachers from across Canada attended the Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) Orientation in Ottawa.  These teachers, whose applications were successful, were selected to participate in Project Overseas 2012 in different developing countries internationally.  I've been assigned to Grenada to teach Visual Arts!

On Team Grenada, there are 6 members, and here are their teaching posts, based on the Grenadian Union of Teacher's needs, and based on our areas of expertise:  school administration, Computer Technology, Literacy, Mathematics, Special Education, and Visual Arts.

The goal of the orientation was to develop our inter-cultural understanding, train us to deal with inter-cultural conflict, teaching strategies when teaching in a developing country, and to provide opportunities for team building prior to our departure.

This year, CTF celebrated its' 50th anniversary.  CTF celebrated this milestone by throwing a dinner for PO alumni and participating members at the Chateau Laurier.

There was also time built-in for running errands at the Rideau Centre!  I made last minute purchases at the mall, and learned that I am not the only HMP (high maintenance princess) on the trip!
